What you are agreeing to
The Remote Ledger is free and open-source software released under the MIT licence. Your rights to use, copy, modify and distribute it come from that licence, and nothing on this page reduces them. If anything here appears to conflict with the licence, the licence wins.
There is no subscription, no account and no service. You download software and run it yourself. That means there is nothing here to sign up to and nothing to cancel.
No warranty
The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Nobody who worked on it is liable for any claim, damage or other liability arising from it. That is the MIT licence's language and it is meant literally: this is a tool given away for free, and it may have bugs.
In practice: check what it produces before you send it. A tailored résumé is a draft, a fit score is an opinion, and a job it found is a job you should still look at yourself.
Your responsibilities
You run this software on your own machine, under your own accounts, against services you chose. What it does on your behalf is your responsibility:
- Be honest in your applications. The software is built to resist inventing experience you do not have, but it cannot stop you overriding it. What you send out is what you are claiming.
- Respect the sites it reads. The shipped job boards carry crawling notes taken from their own robots.txt, and the crawl paces itself. If you add a board or raise the limits, that is on you.
- Follow the terms of the AI provider whose key you are using, and pay whatever they bill you. We never see your key and cannot see your spend.
- Keep your own backups. The app takes them automatically every six hours, but they sit in the same folder as everything else.
This website
The pages here are documentation and a description of the software. They may be out of date relative to the code, which is the authoritative version. Nothing on this site is an offer, a guarantee of fitness for any purpose, or advice about your career.
Contributing
Contributions arrive as pull requests under the same MIT licence. If you offer a job board back through the app, you are publishing those four fields under your own GitHub identity, in public, and you see them before they go.
